Another year of Converge: Youth for Christ has begun at Dakota. We are just one of the current 29 Michigan schools involved in the organization.
Converge is open to anyone and everyone; all are welcome! You don’t have to be Christian to join. Have questions about God, faith, and/or life? This is your chance to find out. You may not find all the answers you seek immediately, but you won’t be alone on the road to finding out. Our friendly facilitators are here to answer any questions you may have.
Converge is run by Pastor Jason Foullum, and Lousie (ministry director.) Meetings are held in room 126 with Ms. Keller; Mr. Venditti makes regular appearances. Takes place 2:15-3:00 after school on Thursdays.
Food and games are present every week. Everyone is also welcome to stop by for some pizza and/or other snacks. Community and lasting friendships are built here, where people of all different walks of life can come together to talk about faith and try to see what life means.
Each meeting officially starts with a prayer, followed by a Bible passage. Led by one of our facilitators, members then engage in large group discussion about the passage and about a specific theme. One doesn’t have to participate. If you’re merely curious, you’re welcome to sit in and listen.
The theme being discussed during October is purpose. Who are we called to be? What plan does God have for us? How to we find out what it is?
For the first meeting (on October 5th), Psalm 139 was read. This verse addresses who God is, and who we are to Him. We are all special and wonderful in His eyes, without flaw and never inadequate.
Want to know more? All are welcome, whether you are looking for community, or are just curious.
