Iron Lung: Markiplier’s Latest Upcoming Movie
We all know and love Markiplier, the popular content creator who is based mainly on YouTube and posts all sorts of fun videos, ranging from video gaming to reaction content. Mark has been the producer of several different projects including his YouTube original series In Space with Markiplier and his podcast Distractable.
Mark recently took a short leave of absence from posting daily videos because of the work he was doing for his next big project, and 3 weeks ago on April 21st, he finally dropped a teaser trailer on his channel revealing the project to be a movie adaptation of the popular video game Iron Lung created by Dave Szymanski.
The game, which Markiplier played on his channel a year ago, presents a unique horror experience for players as they explore an ocean of blood on a faraway moon in a small, rusty submarine. The protagonist is a convict sent on a mission to gather pictures from a ‘Blood Lake” in hopes of finding the existence of life and resources after an event known as the “Quiet Rapture” which caused all planets and stars to vanish, making it so those who lived in space stations and starships to be the only people left.
The game mechanics allow the player to navigate through the depths of the blood lake using an X and Y axis and an option to shift angles. The player must capture photos of specific points throughout the map using the submarines’ cameras; photos that slowly get more and more unsettling as the game progresses. The submarine also has limited oxygen, and certain scary events will trigger due to the changing pressure, adding to the tension and suspense of the game.
Mark was very pleased with the mechanics and the lore of Iron Lung and reached out to the creator Dave about making the movie, which launched the production of this highly anticipated film. We are very excited to see the movie adaptation of the game from this exceptionally creative team and look forward to seeing how the lore is further developed in the film version.
