Simple
Slow steady music flows down the streets of New York
You just bought your favorite coffee
All your tasks for the day are checked off
You head back home to the scent of jasmine
Your favorite Chinese food waiting for you on the table
Fresh flowers wait in a vase
Waiting for your nose to sniff their beautiful scent
Tall white candles are burning in front of your eyes
Right behind you is the love of your life
He welcomes you and pulls out your chair
You feel an enormous amount of joy just by him being here with you
The little girl in you is beaming with happiness
You finally allowed yourself with someone who will be there
Through sickness and in health
The person that will kiss you on your forehead
Before tucking you in because you fell asleep on the couch
The person that is willing to do something
Not because you asked them to
Because they wanted to
The person that always makes sure you will be okay before leaving for work
They check up on you and bring you gifts
Chocolate when your sad
And a shoulder when your mad
A person to cry on and protect you from the monsters under your bed
In this moment as he sits across from you
You feel nothing more than love
For once you have a person
That is always going to remind you of the dream you had as a little girl
You dreamed of a prince in bright shining armor
But he came to you with his gear off and with an open heart
He did everything with you and for you
He was the man every woman desired
He always made it clear that he was in love with you
There was nothing to hide
The handwritten notes still follow him everywhere
He always is sure to show everyone a picture of me
You are the woman that he lays next to at night
The same woman who he makes dinner reservations for
You have this feeling
The feeling of just pure love for someone
Love for the two of you is simple
It’s the quick reminders that you love each other
Or the flowers he leaves for you on your bedside table
The sticky notes reminding you that you are worth it
If he was not in your life it would be different
Not a bad kind of different
The kind of different that you would still be walking down the streets of New York
You would still get your favorite coffee
You would still have flowers waiting for you
You would order your favorite Chinese
And you still would write yourself your own reminders
The only thing that makes it all so different is him
He makes you feel seen and heard
So remember you will never be alone
No matter if you have a significant other
No matter how far away they are
You will always have the woman staring in the mirror
