Summer Vacation Spots
With Summer coming faster than anyone had anticipated, many people are getting ready to get out and travel the world. It is important that you travel somewhere in which you will be able to find activities to participate in and an atmosphere to enjoy. Ten summer vacation destinations will be listed below with a detailed description of each.
Iceland
Located in the North-Atlantic Ocean, Iceland is known as the land of “fire and ice” due to its glaciers and active volcanoes. If you enjoy adventures and beautiful nature this is the place for you. The best times to visit are July and August according to Travel Triangle. During the summer, they tend to receive nearly 24 hours of sunlight leaving them with few hours of daylight in the winter. Although there are activities to do year-long, most are accessible in the summer months. Iceland is one of the best spots in Europe if you are considering whale watching. During this season, you can spot minke, humpbacks, and sperm whales as they make their way around the island. In order to truly see how stunning Iceland is, you should make time to tour the highlands. The highlands are made up of mountains, volcanoes, and glaciers causing the roads to be thin, only allowing 4×4 vehicles when touring. Those are just two of the many activities to occupy yourself with while visiting.
Bali
Bali is one of the most visited islands in the world according to Bali Spirit, because of the numerous amounts of things to do especially during the summer months. Activities range from deep relaxation to taking a long hike in the forest. When you visit, tours are offered to you in which you can be taken to many historical sites and explore the great outdoors by bike, or foot. The main tourist attraction is the glorious landscape. You can witness amazing sunsets, caves and canyons, colorful forests and multiple beaches. Uluwatu beach is best known for its surfing, cliff jumping, and snorkeling, located on the tip of the island. Bali is also filled with extreme nightlife consisting of rooftop bars, beach hangouts, and international bands that perform daily.
Switzerland
Although Switzerland is known to be Europe’s most popular travel destination during the winter months, people forget that there is just as much to do during the summer months as well. An eventful way to start your trip is by “swapping skiing for hiking,” due to the astonishing greenery and monstrous mountains that always seemed to be covered with snow. With no snow, people can also partake in water sports held all over due to there being 7,000 lakes. In the summer, many festivals and celebrations take place, one being the Jazz Festival in Montreux, where world-famous musicians show off their skills. If this has not influenced you, even slightly, to visit Switzerland I do not know what will.
Singapore
The typical climate of the country tends to be humid during the summer months yet that will not stop you from experiencing plenty of things that you can check off your bucket list. Merlion land is full of beaches in which many take part in snorkeling, flyboarding, jet skiing and many water sports. Because of Singapore’s pure beauty, the best way to capture it all is by indulging yourself in it by camping. There are many parks located near the water with views that could make you feel relaxed and at peace in seconds. Something that should be the first thing done when visiting is a shopping day. If you make it to Singapore in June, be sure to participate in “The Great Singapore Sale” allowing you to get discount prices or bargain on everything from clothing to hotel reservations. This gives you something to do if the humidity is too high on certain days.
Austria
Rather than going somewhere tropical where your days consist of laying on the beach, Austria provides tourists with extravagant views of green valleys, waterfalls, and snowcapped mountains. Green Lake is considered an immensely popular spot, letting you hike and go diving while watching the colorful fish swim around. It is important to experience Austria the “Austrian way” by living their day-to-day life. Outdoor activities to do include ziplining through the alps, hiking, and seeing how ski resorts switch up their landscapes for the summer months.
Japan
Japan is considered a year-round destination spot, but summer is the most festive time of the year according to Boutique Japan. The summer months are full of festivals and bright colors. Some of the many festivals are Kyoto’s Gion Matsuri and Osaka’s Tenjin Matsuri in which each put off magnificent firework shows and are culturally alluring. Japan’s weather varies depending on what part you are traveling to; this allows you to choose your desired climate. To stay cool, you can explore different museums, shopping malls and swim at Yunessun, a Hot Spring theme park. If you would like to stay outdoors, you can hike, go to flower fields, and even have a beach day.
Italy
Summer is an amazing time of the year to visit Italy, you are able to take in the natural landscapes and the diversity of the country. In the northeast you can hike or bike the Italian Alps with peaks rising over 3,000 meters and narrow valleys. If you love being near the water, you can go along the coastline which is bordered by the water from five different seas. As you lie on the beach you can admire the bright blue water. Not only does Italy offer amazing beaches and great hiking but also cities filled with charm, meusems and most importantly, amazing food. This explains why so many people want to visit someday.
Even though everyone has their own ideal summer vacation, each destination listed involves great diversity. Hopefully after reading about seven different countries, you will have an idea of where you want to travel this summer.
