Spring Into the Season!

This past Monday was the Spring Equinox, which means that spring is officially upon us. With the arrival of spring, comes a load of fun and engaging activities to do to celebrate. Listed below are a few that you can try out for yourself!

Incorporate Pastel Colors

Pastel colors tend to be the hues associated with springtime. They are light in color and are especially popular during Easter. You can get into the spring vibe yourself by incorporating pastels into your everyday lifestyle. You might choose to decorate your house with light colors such as pale pink and mint, or you can add a pastel color scheme into your wardrobe!

Plant Flowers!

Spring is not spring without flowers. After all, it is the time of year when plants start sprouting back after the cold winter. While it is a bit early to start planting flowers due to the type of weather that Michigan has, it doesn’t mean that spring will be entirely flowerless! Memorial Day, which occurs in late spring, is often considered one of the most optimal times for planting. If you would rather enjoy some beautiful blooms earlier than that, you can always buy a bouquet or a house plant to brighten up the indoors. Some of the most popular flowers of the season include tulips, daffodils, lilies, and hyacinths.

Hatch Butterflies!

Besides flowers, butterflies are one of the most spring-y things out there! They are among the most beautiful insects in the world, and some of the most interesting as well. The transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly is an amazing one, and you can witness it yourself with your very own butterfly hatchery! These hatcheries are usually cylindrical in shape and house the caterpillars until they are ready to fly away. It can take a few weeks for them to evolve, but once they become butterflies, you can release them into the wild!

Visit a Butterfly Garden!

If you are unable to grow your own butterflies in a hatchery, you can still watch them elsewhere! A butterfly garden is a place for butterflies to live and is filled with beautiful plants and scenery for them to fly around. People are able to visit these gardens, which are often built indoors. However, when visiting, it is important to be careful where you step, so that you don’t accidentally harm a butterfly. One of the local gardens you can visit is the Detroit Zoo Butterfly Garden. The garden houses about 25 different species of butterflies, meaning that there are beautiful, vibrant colors, everywhere you look!

Have a Picnic!

If you have never had a picnic before, springtime is the perfect chance to have one! The weather is generally warm, and often times, there will be a nice, cool breeze. Invite some friends, and pack a basket or cooler to store everyone’s favorite foods. You can go to a park or even sit outside in your backyard. Either way, you will be able to dine outside and enjoy the lovely weather of spring.

Draw With Chalk!

Another fun way to celebrate the coming of spring is decorating the pavement using chalk! You can draw anything you want—flowers, butterflies, smiley faces, you name it! The vibrant colors of the pictures you draw are sure to brighten someone’s day and let everyone know that spring is here!

Clean!

The term “spring cleaning” is a phrase that is heavily thrown around during springtime. People often have more motivation when transitioning from the colder months into the warmer ones, and cleaning their house is a great task to put all their extra energy toward. Being sure to stay tidy is an important thing. Your whole house does not have to be spotless, but you will definitely feel better when you have a space that is neat and organized. You will be much happier and less stressed than you would be in a messy environment. Try to donate things you do not need, eliminate dust, and sanitize surfaces, all in an effort to have a cleaner lifestyle!

Go For a Walk!

Spring is an amazing time of the year to get out and enjoy nature, due to the warm weather. You can do this by taking a walk in your neighborhood, or even in a more scenic environment, like a park. Wherever you go, be sure to enjoy the sunshine and cool breeze that come with spring. Some local places that you can visit for a stroll include Patridge Creek, Stoney Creek, and George George Park.
