Regional Science Olympiad Competition
This past Saturday, March 18, 2023, Dakota High School’s Science Olympiad team attended the Regional Competition. There, they competed in various events involving testing, building, experimenting, and overall trying their scientific knowledge. The fifteen members competed in over twenty events, and medals were awarded for 1st through 4th place. The team came through, medaling in many different areas, and taking 3rd place overall.
Anatomy and Physiology: 2nd place- Mackenzie Patenaude, Saarim Iqbal

Chemistry Lab: 2nd place- Saarim Iqbal, Brady Wozniak
Detector Building: 2nd place- Jake Gorecki, Dylan Walzack
Disease Detectives: 1st place- Mackenzie Patenaude, Saarim Iqbal
Dynamic Planet: 2nd place- Erin Angeles, Saarim Iqbal
Environmental Chemistry: 1st place- Gavin Rozak
Experimental Design: 4th place- Mackenzie Patenaude, Leanne, Adam
Flight: 4th place- Erin Angeles, Helena
Forensics: 3rd place- Allison, Cayden
Forestry: 2nd place- Gavin Rozak, Mackenzie Patenaude
Green Generation: 4th place- Gavin Rozak, Mackenzie Patenaude
Wi-Fi Lab: 4th place- Jake Gorecki, Dylan Walzack
The team’s overall 3rd place rank earned them a spot at the state competition this April, which will be held at Michigan State University. We congratulate them and wish them the best of luck moving forward!
