Why Death Note is an Incredible Anime (That You Should Watch!)

From 2003 to 2006, an incredible manga graced Weekly Shonen Jump, a popular manga magazine in Japan. This manga was Death Note – a captivating mystery/thriller that continues to flourish in the popular conscience today. Shortly after its manga run, also in 2006, it began releasing as an anime series.

Known and loved by many, this series follows the story of Light Yagami, a teenage genius who discovers a strange item – a notebook that will kill whoever he writes down. From there on out, he begins his fall into madness, battling notorious detective L to keep himself a secret and continue his role as a godlike figure.

This anime is clever, darkly funny, and well-paced, with characters you grow to love, even in the face of their more negative aspects. I greatly recommend this anime for the drama and intrigue. It can be found on Netflix, Crunchyroll, or anywhere else you get your anime!
