Cold temperatures in the wintertime cause dry air, dry air causes dry skin, so wintertime causes a dry skin crisis for most people. Dry skin isn’t the only problem in the wintertime, dry hair, cuticles and lips are also a problem. Here are some products to help your wintertime dryness. 

Hair  

K18 

K18 is a leave-in molecular repair hair mask. This leave-in treatment reverses damage from bleach, color, chemical services, and heat. This product is great for restoring your hair’s strength, smoothness, and bounce to hair. K18 is perfect for any hair type, color, or generation. When using this product, the key is you cannot use conditioner. The first step in using this product is shampooing your hair and don’t condition it. When you get out of the shower towel dry your hair thoroughly. Start with using one pump of k18 and work through the hair, use more as needed depending on length, thickness, condition. Let this sit for four minutes, then comb and style as usual. You may think the idea of not conditioning your hair and just using a leave in wouldn’t leave your hair soft, but it does.

Olaplex No. 3 

Olaplex No. 3 is an at home treatment that reduces breakage and strengthens your hair. This product leaves your hair feeling soft and visibly healthier. The first step is to apply a generous amount to towel dried hair before you shampoo and condition and comb through. Leave on for no less than 10 minutes, the longer you leave it on the more effective it is. 30 to 90 minutes have left great results. Rinse out the product and shampoo and condition as usual. This is not a conditioning treatment or a leave-in. After washing the hair, style as you normally would. This product is recommended to be used 2-3 times a week.

Skin 

Bag balm 

Bag balm is perfect for dry, cracked skin, hands, lips, knees, and feet. Bag balm has been around since 1899 working to intensely moisturize and renew skin. This product originally was made for cows’ udders, but farmers noticed the softness it left their hands, and started using it for human skin. 

Ingredients: petrolatum, lanolin, paraffin wax, water, and 8-Hydroxyquinoline Sulfate (0.3%) 

Aquaphor 

Aquaphor is an amazing moisturizer to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin. Aquaphor has a thick constancy and can be used on your dry cracked skin, dry hands and cuticles, cracked heels and feet, and chapped lips. You can also use Aquaphor as treatment for diaper rash and skin burns from radiation therapy. You can even use Aquaphor on your tattoos. Aquaphor helps seal in moisture so you can put a layer over your whole face after you do your skin care routine before bed. This will create almost like a shield to lock everything into your face.
