Getting in the Holiday Spirit with Dakota’s Choirs

The choir students have been working hard in preparation for the Dakota Choirs Holiday Concert. It will be on Friday, December 16th and there will be approximately twenty songs in the concert to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

The four choir classes – Treble Chorus, Men’s, Women’s Varsity, and Mixed Varsity – will perform as well as the after-school Show Choir and the acapella group The Unaccompanied Minors.

On the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before the concert, choir students stayed from 3:00 to 8:00pm to practice their singing and choreography. Tuesday was Tech Day where they ran through the show, Wednesday was the Dress Rehearsal for Act 1 and Thursday was for Act 2. None of this could have been done without the Tech Crew or the help of parent volunteers.

But the five-hour rehearsals weren’t the only thing choir students have done recently to get ready for the show. Junior Mikayla Shadowens said her favorite part of the past couple of weeks was when “we went on a show choir tour to the district’s elementary schools” in preparation for the concert.

For the first time ever, Dakota’s Culinary Arts Program has teamed up with the choir to put on a fantastic night. Special “Dinner and a Show” tickets were on sale for a limited time. By purchasing one of these exclusive tickets, audience members could have a delicious meal prepared by the Culinary Arts Students before watching the performance. The choir concert will begin at 7:00pm and tickets will be sold at the door.

Senior Mixed Varsity member Monday Skrocki said, “Choir takes a lot of dedication, but it is all worthwhile in the end when we get to perform.”
