Internships at Dakota and Chippewa Valley High School

At Dakota, we have a vast CTE program with many options to choose from. One of these programs includes internships where you can get paid, college credit, and work experience at the same time. for credit are available to seniors who have previously completed two semesters in the related CTE program (usually in their sophomore or junior year), have teacher recommendations, and are enrolled in a concurrent related CTE course in their senior year.

I interviewed 3 students, all from different jobs and experiences, to get a gist of each program.

First, I interviewed Gracie Torres, in the Marketing CTE at Dakota, who works at Jaguar Landrover. She is a receptionist at the office and gives receipts to her clients. At Dakota in marketing, she is an accountant who focuses on money and helps other people in her downtime. She also said how this program is a great experience and helps you learn quickly.

Bridget McEvoy is also in marketing but works with outdoor equipment for a company. At her job, she works with people there to talk about ideas for social media, as well as making tiktoks, posts, and or organizing advertisements.

She put emphasis on her teacher, Ms. Walker, on how easy she is to work with, and is very accommodating. She also said how it is nice to get experience hands-on.

Alex Messing is in design engineering, and HMS + stellar engineering. At his job, he works 100% on the computer and uses a program called NX. He explained that he gets 2 weeks of training and most of the job is taking notes and learning as you go. His position is a detailer, so he details fixtures for cars for when they go through an assembly line; his job is to make a layout of these fixtures. He also said that the classes here at Dakota help with understanding and building a foundation to prepare you before going into the job.
