Wednesday is a new show, a Netflix original series based on Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family. Wednesday Addams is a dark character obsessed with death that never smiles. Tim Burton is the director of Wednesday and Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday.

The show starts off with Wednesday dropping piranhas into a pool full of jocks who bullied her brother. Wednesday gets expelled and has court mandatory therapy sessions. These therapy sessions are with Dr. Kimbott.

Wednesday keeps getting expelled from every school she goes to, so her parents are sending her to Nevermore, the school for outcasts.  Both of Wednesday’s parents went to Nevermore, and they loved it. The school is run by unsettling headteacher Larissa Weems. Principle Weems also went to Nevermore, with Wednesday’s parents. When Wednesday gets to Nevermore, she meets her roommate Enid. Enid gives Wednesday a tour of the cliques, including furs (werewolf’s), fangs (vampires), stoners (gorgons), scales (sirens), and queen bee, Bianca, who is the leader of the sirens. The school also has shapeshifters, a curious faceless species, and psychics, like Wednesday.

Bodies keep being found in the woods slaughtered, and the sheriff is sure it is the Nevermore students. The sheriff tells the public they are bear attacks but the way these bodies look, there’s no way it was a bear. Wednesday’s soon finds out a monster is committing these murders and starts her investigation. Wednesday is determined to figure out what is doing this. The rest of the show Wednesday continues her investigations as an amateur detective until she finds the monster.

“I really enjoyed the show; the actors, the set, and the plot. The aesthetic of the tv show reminded me of some of my favorite films, such as Harry potter. I would recommend this show to a specific type of audience. 10/10” – Ryenne Ashworth, 12

“I saw the first episode but that was enough! Right after the first one I immediately quit. Seeing Jenna Ortega fills me with an inhuman amount of rage. She’s terrible. The show is terrible. The nostalgia of The Addams Family is not enough to make Wednesday an enjoyable show. I never plan to see another episode and it would be pure torture if I was in a situation where I had to watch more of it. I wouldn’t wish that upon my worst enemy. Wednesday is the worst show I’ve seen in my entire seventeen years of life, hands down. 8/10.” -Madison Singer, 12

“I have only seen two and a half episodes, but I thought it was pretty good. I really like Jenna Ortega so I’m kind of biased, but the plot seems interesting so far and Jenna’s acting is very impressive for such a specific role. There are a lot of small details in the show, and I think a big part of the reason it’s so good is because Tim Burton thinks through his productions so carefully. I’m excited to finish the show! 9/10” -Kenzie Patenaude, 12

“I didn’t finish the show, I made it to episode two and I thought it was very cringy. There’s a good cringy and a bad cringy this was a bad cringy. 3/10” – Makayla Rayis, 12

“I really enjoyed the show, it’s not the best show ever but it is pretty enjoyable. I didn’t love Thing in the show, it kind of scared me and just reminded me of a spider. The plot was very interesting and kept my attention the entire time. 8/10” -Lexi Cochran

“I am a big fan of Jenna Ortega’s work. She is such a talented actress and it is very impressive since she is so young. I really loved this show and so did my sister. It is a great show if you are looking for something new to watch. 9/10” -Ellie Snodgrass
