With many sequels to present games coming out in 2023, many gamers are quite excited about the potential they hold. Thus, here is an overview of what is expected to be released within the next year. 

Hogwarts Legacy  

Hogwarts Legacy is a 3D action RPG (Role Playing Game) that includes an open-world experience set in the early 1800s. There is a character customization option that allows for a more immersive experience as well as an option to pick your house instead of being assigned to one. On this note, you can also customize your wand to your liking. The planned release date for this game is February 10th, 2023, and it is currently under development by Avalanche Software, but Warner Bros. Games will be publishing it under another label known as Portkey Games. They will make this game available on the PS5, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox 1, Xbox X/S, the Nintendo Switch, and on Pc (in which you can find this game on Epic Games and Steam) (Hogwarts Legacy).  

Atomic Heart 

Atomic Heart is another 3D action RPG that is set in the 1950s with a unique twist. With the inclusion of high-tech robots, drones, and mutated monsters, adapting a fighting style to match the situation is a must in this game. By adding unique weapons, both ranged and melee, you can customize, upgrade, and find interactable objects within the environment to make your character have an edge in battle. This game is currently in development by Mundfish, and will be released by them on February 21st, 2023. They currently plan to make this game available on the PS5, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox X/S, Xbox 1, and on Pc (in which you can also find this game on Steam) (Mundfish). 

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 

This Legend of Zelda is, once again, a 3D action RPG that is set as a sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This Zelda game is a direct sequel, so many fans are speculating that there will be similar features in Tears of the Kingdom that are from Breath of the Wild. The planned release date for this game is May 12th, 2023 and will be released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch by Nintendo. Unfortunately, it is speculated that this Zelda game is the last in the decade’s long series (Zelda).  

Assassins Creed Mirage 

This new Assassins Creed delves into the era of the Golden Age of Baghdad, bringing back Alamat with an updated look, which is the place that started it all 15 years ago. Basim and Roshan are currently the only characters whose designs and names have been released, but it appears that two more will be tied into Basim’s (who is the main character) destiny. In the synopsis of the characters, it appears that Roshan is Basim’s mentor, in which Roshan is a master assassin apart of the Hidden One’s, and Basim has always aspired to be a part of their group. In this new game, Assassin’s Creed once again brings back the exhilarating parkour, the open-world experience, and interactive environment to bring back the taste of home for veteran Creed players. The planned release date for this game is around August 2023, and it will be published by Ubisoft to be released on the PS5, PS4, EPIC, Amazon Luna, Xbox X/S, Xbox 1, and on PC (Ubisoft).  

Diablo IV 

Yes, you read that right. Diablo is back! With five classes and character customization available, Diablo is bringing back its hack-and-slash gameplay with Lilith’s return. The classes available are the Barbarian, Druid, Sorcerer, Rogue, and Necromancer, all with unique unlockable talents that will influence whether you live or die. Challenge dungeons, clear strongholds, and join fellow adventurers as you delve deeper into the world of the Sanctuary. The planned release date of this game is June 6th, 2023 and will be published by Blizzard on Blizzard’s general page, which is otherwise known as Battlenet.com (Blizzard, Diablo 4) 

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty  

Wo Long: Fallen dynasty is set in the late Han Dynasty following the story of a Militia soldier fighting for survival during the collapse of the three kingdoms. With the graphics and fighting style closely aligning with a dark fantasy setting, this game seems to follow in the footsteps of the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring. The use of Chinese Martial Arts and a unique skillset is also thrown into the mix, so the player can complete numerous combos to best their enemy in this strategic game. There is also an addition of magical attacks, making the combat strategies of this game even more intriguing. This game appears to be quite promising, with some even speculating that it will be even better than Elden Ring. The planned release date for this game is March 3rd, 2023 and will be published by Team Ninja on the PS5, PS4, Xbox X/S, and Xbox 1 (Team Ninja).
