The Eras Tour???!!!!

On November 1, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift announced her next tour beginning in 2023, the Eras Tour. On the Taylornation Instagram, she described the upcoming five month long American tour as “when all of your favorite eras, songs, stories, and late nights mesh into one.” However, Swift announced last Friday on Twitter, “UM. Looks like I’ll get to see more of your beautiful faces than previously expected… we’re adding 8 shows to the tour.” Fans in several states such as Florida, Massuchsetts, and California will now have an extra night to see Swift live. On October 21, Swift released her tenth album, Midnights, which she announced at the 2022 VMA Music Awards in August. This widely anticipated album has had off the charts sales and shattered numerous records including the most streamed album on Spotify in 24 hours (184.6 million streams), the largest week for an album on vinyl since tracking began in 1991, and Swift became the only artist to have five albums debut with over 1 million units sold in their first week in US history. As if this incredible album was not enough, Swift surprised her fans eleven days later by announcing her first tour since Reputation in 2018. She announced Loverfest for her 2019 album Lover which was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so this is her first time performing in. The Eras Tour has sent Swifties all over the country into a frenzy, and it will most likely be a battle to buy tickets before they sell out, especially since Swift has gained so many new fans through Tiktok, as well as her sister albums released in 2020, Folklore and Evermore.

This concert is unlike anything Swift has done before. With her re-recordings and new releases, no one has any idea what to expect on next year’s tour. Last year, she released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). Some fans are convinced that in the next four months before the tour begins, Swift will release re-recordings of her other albums as well. Her 2010 album, Speak Now, is a heavy contender to be re-released next. Many are convinced that the music video for her song “Anti-Hero” off the Midnights album is dropping hints that Speak Now will be next. However, Swift has been known to be a loose cannon when it comes to releasing music, so who is really to say what she will do next?

Coming along with her on tour, is a list of other beloved and star-studded artists. The list of special guests includes Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN. Different artists will be opening for Swift in each state she’s visiting, with girl in red and OWENN coming along with her to Ford Field in Detroit. Some have hypothesized that each concert will focus on a few specific albums, depending on the genres the opening artists perform. For example, Phoebe Bridgers was featured on Red (Taylor’s Version) in the song “Nothing New”, causing fans to theorize that concerts featuring Bridgers will focus more on the Red album. The sense of not knowing what to expect on tour has gotten the Swifties anticipating the concerts even further. Fans on social media are already posting ideas for outfits to wear to match each album and which songs they hope Swift performs in their state. Living up to her Midnights song, “Mastermind”, Swift really knows how to market to her target audience. The element of surprise she uses never fails to impress fans.

Tickets for Eras go on sale to the public on November 18, at 10 AM local time. Although, fans can register through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program by Nov. 9 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time to receive a unique code to purchase tickets on November 15. According to a press release, tickets cost between $49 and $449. VIP packages start at $199 and go up to $889. Swift has been known to have a wide variation of ticket prices to accommodate to her army of supporters and this time is no different. The Eras Tour will definitely be an experience unlike any other and no one wants to miss it.
