Food review: Deshi Kitchen

This past Tuesday, I visited Deshi Kitchen for the third time and certainly not the last. Located on 19 mile and Hayes, Deshi Kitchen is an authentic Indian restaurant. The carryout’s make this restaurant very popular. As we were sitting in the restaurant there wasn’t a time that someone wasn’t there picking up a door dash or carryout for themselves.

Naan and rice
Paneer Pakora

We started off with Paneer pakora which is homemade cheese marinated with flour, Indian spices and then is deep fried. It was dry but the spices that were sprinkled on top were very good. It was a good thing to try but I wouldn’t get it again. As well as the paneer pakora we also got cheese paratha. Cheese paratha is flatbread stuffed with cheese and coriander, then pan fried with butter. I would absolutely get the cheese paratha again. It would recommend dipping it into the sauce that you get with your entrées.

Chicken korma

For the entrees, we got a variety of dishes to try including butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma and sizzling masala lamb. All the entrees came with either rice or naan, we all decided to get rice and order naan on the side. They gave us each a big bowl of rice. The rice wasn’t sticky at all and there were lots of leftovers. Three of us decided to get the regular naan and my friend got the garlic naan. We liked the garlic naan a bit better than the regular naan.

Butter chicken

The dish I got was the chicken tikka masala, its tandoor roasted chicken cooked in their own special sauces made from different spices, garlic, herbs, butter cream and cashew nut. I liked my own the best out of everyone’s because it had a little bit of spice to it and was very creamy. Dipping the naan into it was very good.

Chicken tikka masala

Another dish we got was butter chicken, chicken roasted in a clay oven and cooked with their special selection of mild spices, butter and creamy tomato sauce. Butter chicken is a classic, it’s sweet and delicious.

Chicken korma was the last chicken dish that we got. Chicken korma is a mildly spicy dish cooked with cream, yogurt and cashew nuts. It tasted and looked similar to chicken curry but was a bit sweeter than we thought it was going to be. We got the spice regular, but next time we would get mild plus instead of just mild.

Sizzling masala lamb

The last entrée that we got was the sizzling masala lamb. The lamb was extremely tender and melted in your mouth as soon as you ate it. We got it mild plus which was the perfect amount of spice. I thought it was pretty similar to a pot roast. It came with green peppers, onions, cumin seeds, roasted garam in a chef’s special tandoori sauce.

Overall, all the meat was very tender and well cooked. All the dishes were phenomenal and provided all of us with a lot of leftovers for the next few days. It was definitely not my last time at Deshi Kitchen.
