10 Dog Breeds And What They Were Bred For

  1. German Shepard 

The German Shepard is an intelligent, longhaired, athletic dog breed. The German Shepard was originally bred for sheep Herding. Now, they are used as working dogs for police officers and other important positions. 

2. Golden Retriever 

The Golden Retriever is a friendly, long haired and athletic dog breed which was originally bred for hunting birds, specifically the waterfowl. Now, the golden retriever is used as a family, friendly dog. 

3. Doberman 

The Doberman was originally bred to protect people. The breed was made for protection and intimidation and is now used for other important jobs such as search and rescue dogs as well as therapy dogs. 

4. Welsh Corgi

The Welsh Corgi was originally bred for cattle herding. They are now used as family pets, but some still herd cattle on farms. 

5. Great Dane 

The Great Dane was originally bred for hunting types of boars. Now they are fun, family dogs! Even though their appearances may seem scary they are gentle giants.

The Poodle was originally bred for hunting and were used as hunting dogs. Now they are cross bred with a lot of other breeds for their intelligence and for their non-shedding coat. Poodles also take part in a lot of competitions and are used as family dogs.
