Dakota Softball: THE START
Spring sports are underway and softball fans everywhere are anticipating a great season. Dakota Softball has a big reputation to up hold after being ranked third in the state. Their season began last week Tuesday with a non-league game against division 3 defending State Champions Richmond. Going into extra innings Cougars pulled out a win on a walk-off by junior, Faith Maloney with a 2-1 win. Later that week during the Cougars first league game they pulled out a clean win against Grosse Pointe North winning 15-1.
Dakota Softball is lead by pitchers junior Megan Nuechterlein, junior Alyssa Balcom, and sophomore Gracie Maloney. Senior short stop and captain Angela Petrovitch leads the infield and outfield. Petrovitch is a Central Michigan Softball commit and Dakota’s lead off hitter. She sets the tone for the Cougars after already having 5 hits and 3 RBI’s during the early season. Head Coach Dan Vitale is looking forward to these girls winning their last game.
Dakota Varsity Softball is definitely one to watch as we get deeper into the season. Dakota Softball is playing at Walled Lake Northern today, these girls are looking forward to play. As pitching Coach Pam Savich says,” ITS GAME DAY!!” Try to come out and support Dakota Softball, the schedule is below. GO COUGARS!!
