Dakota Baseball Begins!
Dakota’s varsity baseball team finished up their tryouts this past week and started practicing last Friday. The 21 boys have been preparing vigorously for their first game against Brother Rice on Wednesday the 30th. The three hours of practice daily should have them more than ready!
“I’m just excited to be able to play,” says senior player, Caleb Happell. After having one of his seasons cut off due to COVID-19, Happell is ready for his last ride. He has been playing baseball since he was 6 years-old and is committed to playing at Macomb next year. “The key to us having a successful season is for our seniors to really take some leadership and bring the team closer together,” explains Happell.
Another senior player, Aiden Mata, says, “We are excited to play Orchard Lake St. Mary’s because they are the #1 team in the country” The team plans to take the challenge head on.
Gavin Tencza (also a senior) says, “I love this team because everyone gets along and we work well together,” two very important things for a successful team in any sport.
The team is selling discount cards with coupons to multiple different restaurants. $10 gets you a card that you can use over and over again for the remainder of the year. Talk to a Dakota baseball player to get one for yourself!
Dakota plans to win the MAC Red title as well as the district title this year to make it 2 years in a row!
