New Twenty One Pilots Music Video?
On January 13th, 2022, twenty one pilots posted a series of media, hinting at what could potentially be a new music video. This series included a video of the ocean, a photo of ripped up, wet clothing (the same clothing worn in the Saturday music video), and a video of two people (probably Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun) wearing the ripped up clothing. This is likely referring to a sequel the music video they created for the single, Saturday, commonly known as the “old navy” song. In this video, they are on a submarine controlled by a fictional government, called Dema. While they’re having a party on the sub, it begins to flood, and they have to evacuate. While they are in the ocean, a big sea creature [most likely “Trash the Dragon”, the album’s (Scaled and Icy) mascot] swims underneath. Based on this, I believe this continuation will be a video for their song, The Outside. At first I had no clue, and it seemed unlikely. Lyrically, Saturday and The Outside don’t really match that much. But when thinking about the sea monster version of Trash in Saturday, I remembered a lyric from The Outside:
“I am a megalodon, oceans feeling like a pond. Swimming like a beast underneath, they be clinging on.”
This directly correlates to the end scene of Saturday, where Trash is quite literally swimming underneath the people who are clinging on for dear life as they are stuck in the middle of the ocean. While nothing has been confirmed yet, I find this very likely. Regardless of what it is, I look forward to what twenty one pilots is doing next!
