Mike And Melissa
“Mike and Melissa” is a YouTube video made by a college student. The College student is named Mike, and he showed this video to the entire class for his animation project. It is an important milestone in the animation community, and it does not deserve as much hate as it gets. It really deserves love, because Mike ended up not making any more episodes. The cringe culture behind it is too mean to him, especially the stigma behind Melissa’s voice actor. Some people believe that Mike’s mother played the role of Melissa, which is just a gross misinterpretation of his passion project. I really think that “Mike and Melissa” deserves way more positive feedback, instead of focusing on the animation and story. I decided to redraw a scene from the start of the video, when Mike is next to the bus stop to signify how toxic people on the internet can affect people negatively.
this was edited from my original post, because I wrote it in a way that can be seen as hurtful to the creator and to the fans of “Mike and Melissa”. I really do love how Mike went through with his passions, and I terribly apologize for insinuating that I was making fun of the comic. In the future, I will do more research and better my articles, so that everyone can enjoy them 🙂

Hey.
So I am an individual that recently watched the first episode of Mile and Melissa, and I am looking for the creator. I too believe that people have been way to awful about it, despite the deeper messages it had such as struggles with identity and mental health, the likes of which I personally can relate to. If you have any information about the creator, would you be willing to share it with me? It would mean a lot.

Mike and Melissa was a passion project animation made by Mike with the help of his friends. I’m going to suggest, instead of following the typical cringe culture gimmick that annoying Youtubers use, look at it in a better light. The animation aspect of it was good, it moves smoothly because of the huge amount of frames Mike drew for it, its the actual artwork itself that’s criticized, not the animation. The characters are sometimes off model and disproportionate because Mike had to draw and color them hundreds of times, and the backgrounds arent always in perspective and look off. Regardless of this though, its a very soulful animation, otherwise people wouldnt care enough to talk about it, theres thousands of actually bad animations all over Youtube, the reason nobody talks about them is because they’re not even worth mentioning.
Theres a lot of misinformation that has spread about it too which is what put this animation under the cringe culture audience, such as “Mike’s mother voiced Melissa” and about how Mike was apparently a bad person, which were not true either, that one is mainly used as an excuse to make fun of Mike.
At the end of the day, Mike couldve became a better artist and made more content, but his passions were stomped out by people bullying him off of the internet. So go and figure out how hard animation is by doing it, and then imagine doing that under a deadline before you criticize beginner creators, because I personally hate the culture thats been formed around making fun of people who have passions to start making things that they enjoy, especially so as an artist myself.

I did not think that this would get as much of a response as it did. I never did think about it as cringe, I do enjoy it a lot and wish that Mike would have made more episodes. I should have specified that I really do support Mike and hope the hate dies down. I tried to get more people invested in Mike and Melissa, because it is a great milestone in the animation community. I really am sorry that it was taken in that matter, so I will edit the post and change the blurb about the story to make it more positive, because I really do love the cartoon.
