The Horrors Of Chapter 13
I was at lunch with my good friend Collin Black and talking about our experiences last year. He brought up his accounting 1 class, stating that “We don’t talk about Chapter 13”. This piqued my interest, as the tone in his voice suggested that he was severely impacted by the trauma of the chapter. I brought it up to him and Colton Vangorder before school, desperate to hear more.
“so guys, what is chapter 13?”
“It’s a chapter, and it’s in accounting 1.” – CB
“But, what is it about?”
“I think FICA(federal insurance contributions act) was in there”- CB
“IT’S NOT FICA! IT’S MORE THAN FICA.”- CV
They refused to give me any details about Chapter 13 other than how traumatizing it was.
“Guys please-”
” 13 is the devil’s number.”- CV
“Yeah! They skip it when a hotel has more than 13 floors, they just go 11,12,14,15. Look at an elevator. There is no 13th floor.”-CB
“It was just a blur for me.”-CV
“On the bright side, at least chapter 13 will be banished from the recent submissions ( on schoology) when we finish chapter 15.” -CB
All I really understood from their ramblings was that chapter 13 was in accounting 1 and it had something to do with unemployment loans. It was a conversation I will never forget, and probably will haunt Collin and Colton for the rest of their lives.
