October is Italian-American Month!

The month of October is Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month! To celebrate, let’s play a game. Below there are two truths and a lie about *known* Italian-American citizens and all things Italy. Can you figure out which one is incorrect?

Which is the lie?

  • Sylvester Stallone AKA Rocky Balboa wrote a novel.
  • Italy is home to Europe’s only three active volcanoes.
  • 65% of Italy’s highways do not have a speed limit.

The lie? Italy’s highways, or what they call the autostrade, do have a speed limit of typically 80 m.p.h. However in Germany, 65% of their highways do not have a speed limit!

Should we play one more time?

Which is the lie?

  • I, Francesco Gerardi, am Irish.
  • Kobe Bryant (R.I.P) could speak fluent Italian.
  • Nicholas Cage is Italian and his uncle directed the The Godfather movie series.

The lie? At a quick glance at my name, I, Francesco Gerardi, am Italian and not Irish. Was it a hard one to figure out?

Did you get them right? If you did – buon lavaro (good job)! Enjoy a cannoli, a shot of espresso, or a plate of pasta and have a great time celebrating Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month.
