The Chippewa valley school district held a board meeting on May 3rd, 2021 which we were informed with many updates and concerns for our district’s future. They informed the viewers with updates regarding Covid and how the cases have decreased from the beginning of March until now. The board reported on the decrease in cases within our district stating that we started with over 50 confirmed cases and 921 quarantined students and now have only 20 confirmed cases and 68 quarantined. These values are middle and high school students combined. As you know we were recently told that we have the option for face to face schooling or students can opt for live streaming from home.

The board also shared the percentage of students live streaming from the beginning of April until now and informed us that the percent of live streaming has increased from 32% to 55%. They also informed us that CVS parents and students over 16 years of age can sign up to receive the Covid vaccine if they wish starting May 12th. Later in the meeting the board allowed some of our CVS parents to share their concerns with the board regarding mask wearing for the students. The overall consensus from the parents who spoke during the board meeting was that they were against their children having to wear a mask covering during school.

The board made it clear prior to opening the discussion up to the parents that CVS is continuing to follow the recommendation from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Guidelines in regard to Covid protocols.
