Five reasons to apply for FAFSA

FAFSA is a form of student aid for students to apply to, for financial support towards colleges. Many students that apply to college don’t realize all the financial options they have. FAFSA is a quick and straight forward process that could heavily benefit anyone. FAFSA is widespread and accepted by all universities and colleges. Applying for FAFSA can’t hurt you, submit an application today, here are five reasons to do so:

  1. Most students qualify

Many students don’t apply for FAFSA because they think they won’t qualify, and that the financial aid is for students less fortunate than them. However, most Americans qualify, this aid is available for any household income of under $250,000 per year. Being too rich “only applies to less than 5 percent of the U.S. population,” says Charlie Javice, founder & CEO of Frank, an online FAFSA platform.

  1. It’s completely free

You don’t need to pay anything to apply for a FAFSA application. If you see a site charging you to submit an application, be careful! Applying is also a speedy process, it only takes around 21 minutes to do so, you could fill out a form while watching an episode of your favorite Netflix series.

  1. There’s more than enough to go around (were talking billions)

Filling out an application is a chance of winning part of $150 billion in college grants and student loans. Only 44% of high school graduates completed a form in 2014, and in 2016 there was $2.6 billion of free FAFSA aid left over. So even if you still think you won’t qualify, submit an application anyways so there’s not $2.6 billion in aid going to waste this year.
