October has begun and that means that Halloween is right around the corner. You know what that means… it’s spooky season! The ghouls and the goblins will roam Macomb, so don’t be a boo humbug and get into the Halloween spirit. Follow these steps to be prepared to scare and be scared.

1. Decorate. The first step for any holiday is to decorate, so dust off those skeletons and jack-o-lanterns and put them up in your room, around your house, or even in your locker. Those dangling bones and grimacing pumpkins will remind you that Halloween is approaching.
2. Put on your favorite Halloween tunes. Crank up “Spooky, Scary Skeletons Remix” on your radio and have “Monster Mash” on queue. Play the iconic Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” through your 808’s in your car. Surrounding yourself with scary music will engulf you in the Halloween experience.
3. Watch many Halloween movies. Watch numerous Halloween movies in your decorated room while munching on candy corn. Some recommended movies are The Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloween, Coraline, Halloweentown, Fun Size, Scream, Monster House, and many more.
4. Go costume hunting. Go search for that perfect costume that you are going to wear trick-or-treating or at a Halloween party. Whether you go as a kitty cat or a kit-kat, buy an outfit that suits you. You will adapt that persona for the night so choose whatever you desire.
5. Go to Halloween events. Go to ScareFest, Blake’s Haunted House, and Erebus Haunted Attraction. Get your adrenaline flowing and shriek at these events that will scare you guaranteed.
