On Sunday, September 22nd, the 71st Emmy Awards aired on Fox.

History at the Emmy’s:

For the first time in the show’s history it went without a host! However, that was not the only part of history that was broken that night.

The HBO series Game of Thrones broke Emmy’s history twice by tying the record for Best Drama Series with 12 wins throughout its total 8 seasons and the show won its 58th Emmy – which is the most a drama series has ever won!

Another history breaker was Billy Porter, who won Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series. This may not sound like much, but he is the first openly gay man to win the Emmy for best actor in a drama.

The show “Fleabag” won best comedy series and the show’s star Phoebe Waller-Bridge broke Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ 6 year winning streak!

The biggest meme of the Emmy’s:

Jason Bateman, who won an Emmy for Directing – Drama Series had a serious delay when they announced he had won the trophy. It soon began circulating on Twitter with people adding tag lines of why they would react that way.

The funniest moment of the Emmy’s:
Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner presented an award and were openly laughed at by the celebrity audience because they said their reality TV show was completely real life and them just being themselves.

The oddest fashion comparison of the Emmy’s:

Gwendoline Christie from the series Game of Thrones drew comparisons to Jesus with her intruiging ensemble. See for yourself:
