Dakota Wrestling Individual State Championship

Dakota brings home 2 more state champions in successful weekend of competing!

Dakota Wrestling Individual State Championship

This past weekend was very exciting for Dakota athletics as the Dakota Wrestling team competed in their individual state championship. Coming from this event was much success from our cougars bringing home many All-state athletes for the state of Michigan. Within the last 3 years, the cougars have had 4 state champions, 7 state finalist, 20 state placers, and 30 state qualifiers. Having this rich history of success for the wrestling team came to no surprise that the cougars would end on yet again another quality season. With this action-packed weekend, 2 Dakota athletes came home as state champions, which were Brendan Ferretti and Nick Alayan. Followed by Justin Tiburcio placing 2nd, Dustin Solomon placing 5th, Brandon Alkazir and Eli Andary placing 7th, and Andrew Barrett placing 8th. All the boys faught extremely hard and had lots of support from the Dakota families which filled Ford Field. It was a very eventful weekend to experience with our fellow cougars representing our school proudly. This was the first year in Dakota’s history where the team had brought home multiple state champions in the same season. Marking this wrestling season as one of the greatest seasons for Dakota wrestling where the team is only looking to improve for the future and build off the success and legacy these young men have laid down as a foundation for our amazing wrestling program.
