The federal government shutdown has now entered its 34th day. This is now the longest shutdown in history by far. Over 800,000 federal employers are going without pay. Now these federal workers have missed two paychecks. These workers include TSA workers, FBI agents, the Coast Guard, and Border agents to name a few.

On Saturday 22, President Trump proposed for 5.7 billion in funding a border wall for extending temporary protection to immigrants.  Most Democrats over that weekend rejected the President’s proposal.

On January 24, the United States Senate voted on two bills that would end the shutdown. Both bills, one from the Republicans and one from Democrats failed to get enough votes. Now entering the sixth week of the shutdown with no end to the shutdown in sight.
