Over the past few weeks, several of President Trump’s Cabinet members have announced their resignations.

On December 8th of 2018, President Trump announced that Chief of Staff,  John F. Kelly, would be leaving at the end of the year. It was reported prior to his resignation that Trump and Kelly were no longer on speaking terms. Trump named Mick Mulvaney, the OMB Director, as acting Chief of Staff beginning with the new year.

Last Saturday, December 15th, President Trump announced via Twitter that Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke, is leaving the Administration at the end of the year as well. There are probes by the Department of Justice into Zinke with the probably cause being mismanagement and possible ethical misconduct. However, Zinke has avidly dismissed all allegations of misconduct as false.

To add to the growing list, December 20th, the Secretary of Defense, Jim Mattis, resigned his position. He resigned in protest of Trump’s decision to withdraw the American troops from Syria. Mattis has stated that he is leaving due to his differing views from the President. A replacement for Secretary of Defense has not been announced at the time of his posting.
