DHS Basketball: Senior Evan Messing Tells All

Dakota basketball has had high expectations over the past couple of years, and this year is no exception!

With many players returning to the team, DHS plans to build off of a great season last year where they lost in the regional finals to Warren De La Salle. I sat down with one of the senior captains, Evan Messing, to talk about his thoughts on the rest of the season. Evan is a hard working student athlete that has been a part of the Dakota program for four years and is a role model to underclassmen and future Cougars.

As a senior captain, how do you plan on showing leadership?

“I plan to lead by example and help the underclassmen.”

What are the team’s strengths this season?

“We play well together and spread the ball very efficiently. Also, we do a good job communicating and play excellent defense.”

What has this program taught you over the past four years?

“This program has taught me that you always have to battle in practice and give your all to make the team better.”

How do you guys plan on winning a 5th consecutive MAC Red title and what team will give you guys the most trouble?

“We will stick to our roots and continue to focus on one game at a time. Roseville is very athletic and are a tough team but we match up well with them and already handed them an L this year.”
