Last Tuesday on September 18th Marvel Studios released the official trailer for the upcoming film, Captain Marvel. Fans of Marvel have been highly anticipating the release of this trailer which is clearly shown in the 38 million views and nearly 1 million likes it’s received on YouTube so far. All week, fans have expressed their excitement on social media by sharing the trailer, posting eager tweets with their opinions and even uploading pictures of themselves in Captain Marvel costumes. The star of the movie, Brie Larson, has also been actively expressing her excitement and thanking fans for their support on her Twitter page.

The trailer begins by quickly establishing the movie’s 1990s setting as Larson’s character, Carol Danvers, is seen falling from the sky into a Blockbuster Video store. It continues as most trailers do, showing action-packed clips to leave viewers wanting more.  Several notable appearances from other Marvel characters occurred, including younger versions of characters Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Phil Coulson is a fan favorite, and his appearance in Captain Marvel is especially exciting to fans because the character hasn’t been in a Marvel movie since the 2012 film The Avengers. There has been an overwhelming amount of speculation surrounding how this movie will tie into the fourth Avengers movie coming out shortly after. Many have assumed that Captain Marvel will play a huge role in resolving the conflicts from the previous Avengers film, and the ones that will arise in the newest one. This has been met with mixed opinions, with some fans excited to see how it will play out, while others are worried that she will outshine the amazing characters that have been around since the movie franchise began in 2011. Regardless, it seems that the majority of Marvel fans plan to see the film, and it will likely find success following its release date on March eighth, 2019.
