Throwback – Top 8 Albums of 2008

Here are my 100% factually correct opinions on what the best albums were in 2008

and theres nothing you can do to stop me

Fast Times at Barrington High – The Academy Is…

To start my list, i’m giving the number one spot to the academy is… with their final album Fast Times at Barrington High. The Academy Is… made three albums all sounding completely different from their last and in my opinion don’t have any skippable tracks. If my opinion isn’t enough for you, Taylor Swift also liked this album and she is way more popular than me.

Recommended tracks: Rumored Nights, After the Last Midtown Show, One More Weekend

Pretty. Odd. – Panic! at the Disco

The second with no doubt has to be Panic! at the Disco’s Pretty. Odd. This album has a lot going for it, and really showed what they could do and in my opinion was them at their best. The mixed vocals with Ryan Ross and Brendan Urie on multiple songs felt like a completely new band, and trading in the electric dance music for an orchestra set them up for something bigger than themselves. If you don’t like this album your favorite band is probably kidz bop, and not even the one from 2008 you probably like the new kidz bop albums.

Recommended Tracks: That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed), Northern Downpour, Mad as Rabbits

Vampire Weekend – Vampire Weekend

2008 also set the release of Vampire Weekend’s debut album, “Vampire Weekend” titled appropriately. This album showed everything they were about and it really worked out for them.

Recommended Tracks: Oxford Comma, Campus, The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance

Folie a Deux – Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy also released an album pushing their sound ferther than they previously had before. This was their final release before giving up for a few years. They really made something great but not as great as those other three above it, maybe next time.

Recommended Tracks : I Don’t Care, What a Catch, Donnie, 20 Dollar Nosebleed

One of the Boys – Katy Perry

Oh I really wish this was a joke, but this album really had a lot of hits on it and 8 year old me didn’t know what any of them were about, thats not to say I have figured them out yet but you better believe I’m still listening to them.

Recommended Tracks: Hot N Cold, One of the Boys, I’m Still Breathing

The Quilt – Gym Class Heroes

The third album of the Gym Class Heroes, kind of similar to their other ones but it certianly has a lot more going on. Everything the Gym Class Heroes ever made is good. This album features a ton of people that I dont know.

Recommended Tracks: Guilty as Charged, Live Forever, Coming Clean

Intimacy – Bloc Party

I actually dont know anything about this album, someone else can tell you how it was

Recommended Tracks: Their other album Silent Alarm

A Little Bit Longer – The Jonas Brothers

I don’t even have to explain this one. Who doesnt love the Jo Bros? This album is really just lightning in a bottle, isn’t it?

Recommended Tracks: Burnin’ Up, Lovebug, Video Girl
