Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Mielcarek
Mrs. Mielcarek, a Media Center Clerk here at Dakota, is very sweet, lively person and an amazing member of the Dakota staff. As a Media Center Clerk she is helping students locate the books they are looking for and check books in and out to students. Here is a little interview with her to help you get to know her a bit better:)
Q~ Any advice for students of all grades? (Linda Lazareanu)
A~ Take advantage of the many clubs and activities that we have at Dakota. (Cindy Mielcarek)
Q~ Any advice for seniors? (L.L.)
A~ Believe in yourself. Surround yourself with good people. Be kind to others. Enjoy life, be happy! (C.M.)
Q~ Who inspired you to become a Media Center Clerk? (L.L.)
A~ Mrs. Fusco in the Dakota main office. She and I used to work together in the main office of Erie Elementary School. She gave me the confidence and support I needed to transfer from Erie to Dakota and that’s how I became a Media Center Clerk here! (C.M.)
Q~ Are you married? Do you have any kids? Pets? (L.L.)
A~ Yes to all three! Thanks to Facebook I was able to find David Mielcarek who was my boyfriend in 9th grade(1982). We were married in Las Vegas on August 28, 2010. We have 3 children- Kaitlynn, Lauren and Nick. We also have 2 shih tzus, Sophie and Abby, and 4 finches that we just bought recently. (C.M.)
Q~ What do you enjoy doing the most when you aren’t working? (L.L.)
A~ I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants, shopping ( a real stress reliever) and watching movies. (C.M.)
Q~ What is your favorite store? (L.L.)
A~ The Christmas Tree Store. (C.M.)
Q~ What is your favorite movie and why? (L.L.)
A~ The Pursuit of Happyness. Even though he is homeless this single father was devoted and determined to make a better life for his son. (C.M.)
Q~ Last movie you watched and opinion on it? (L.L.)
A~ Dunkirk. It is a (sad) realistic war movie that followed 2 soldiers through their journey in the war. (C.M.)
Q~ Favorite genre and why? (L.L.)
A~ Realistic fiction. Basically any books about peoples lives or any true, real-life stories. I enjoy reading about peoples lives! (C.M.)
Q~ Last book you read? (L.L.)
A~ If I Stay by Gayle Forman. This book gives you a realistic view on priorities in life and whether you should stay or leave. Honestly though, I read much more in the summertime because it is easier to relax and unwind with a good book than it would be this time of year. (C.M.)
Q~ What is your favorite part of your job? (L.L.)
A~ The daily interaction with staff and students. Everyday is an adventure here. (C.M.)
Q~ How long have you been working here at Dakota? (L.L.)
A~ Since September 2011 so 6 years! (C.M.)
Q~ How long have you worked as a Media Center Clerk? (L.L.)
A~ Since 2011, before doing this I was working at Erie Elementary from 2003-2011 in the main office. This is the first school I have worked at as a Media Center Clerk. (C.M.)
Q~ What was the first job you have ever had? (L.L.)
A~ Burger King but it only lasted a week. I guess I’m just not cut out for the fast paced food life. (C.M.)
Q~ Anything new going on at the library? (L.L.)
A~ Nothing new right now. Just closing out this school year and preparing for another exciting one in the fall. (C.M.)
Q~ If you could meet anyone (whether they are still alive or have passed away) who would you meet and why? (L.L.)
A~ I would meet my mom. I lost her in 2007 and I just have so many new things to tell her. I miss her very much. (C.M.)
Q~ Something about you that most people don’t know? (L.L.)
A~ I have a 2 year old grandson named Jaxson. (C.M.)
Q~ What was your favorite class in school and why? (L.L.)
A~ Band because we were like a big family. Lots of friends. (C.M.)
Q~ Favorite season of the year and why? (L.L.)
A~ Fall because I like going to the cider mill and I like Halloween. (C.M.)
Q~ Favorite word and why? (L.L.)
A~ FABULOUS. It’s a fun word to describe how you are feeling;) (C.M.)

A~ Nicholas Sparks because his stories are about love and happiness. (C.M.)
Q~ What’s a big difference between Erie Elementary School and Dakota High School? (L.L.)
A~ Definitely the conversations and belief in holidays. It’s just a whole different atmosphere! (C.M.)
