Arrest made in the case of the Golden State Killer

The Golden State Killer, a serial killer, murderer, and burglar, has finally been caught. It has been 32 years since his last murder in 1986 and law enforcement has been on the cold case for years hoping to finally solve the mystery. Last week, Joseph James DeAngelo was arrested for the various crimes committed by the Golden State Killer. Authorities say that “innovative DNA technology” helped to catch the 76 year old former cop.

The DNA that helped catch DeAngelo was acquired through GEDmatch.com. According to GEDmatch, “…it has always been GEDmatch’s policy to inform users that the database could be used for other uses.”

The survivors and family members of the victims are beyond relieved to hear that there was an arrest made.

“There are a million and one things going through my mind. It’s really quite overwhelming.” Debbi Domingo said about the arrest. Domingo was just a teenager when her mother Cheri was  killed by the Golden State Killer in their home in Goleta, California back in 1981.
