Why History of Motivation is a Great Class

History of Motivation, the Social Studies elective course, is a great addition to our school because the knowledge it has to offer is valuable in our lives and the topics discussed are genuinely interesting. Therefore, although you may have just chosen the class to have an easy hour, you should actually take the class seriously and pay attention to the lessons.

It is true that a decent amount of the class is spent watching movies. However, the movies shown are not random, for each of them is chosen so you can learn something from it. From the movies we watched while I was in the class, I learned about mental disorders, parenting styles, and personalities. While those were all fun and interesting to learn about, and surely had value of their own, the lesson I found the most beneficial is when we learned about job interviews and resumes. We learned how to conduct ourselves in an interview through lessons and practice, as well as how to write a good resume to get interviews.

History of Motivation was one of the most fascinating and helpful classes I’ve ever taken. Because of the class, I am sure that I will now feel more confident walking into an interview room and I no longer feel lost about how best to put together a resume. I also learned some new things about myself through the personality unit. I wouldn’t have been taught or have discovered these things in other classes, which is why I implore you to give the class a genuine shot instead of just coasting through it. There’s a lot that you can take away from it.
