Spongebob isn’t just a cartoon, but it is also had a huge impact on our culture in society. On the internet, you can find memes, merch, and action figures all over. It even has produced three movies; ‘The Spongebob Squarepants Movie’, ‘The Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of Water’, and ‘The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run’. The first movie released in 2004 was an absolute classic that is still watched today. In this movie, Spongebob and Patrick go on a quest to clear Mr. Krab’s name, who was framed of stealing the crown from King Neptune. The Spongebob movie returns in 2015 with their second movie. In the movie, when the secret formula is stolen, Spongebob and his friends join forces with their enemy Plankton to to find it. And in the final movie that was released in 2020, when SpongeBob’s pet snail Gary  goes missing and taken by Kind Poseidon, Spongebob and his gang go on this journey to get him back. These movies were very special, especially after the death of the director of the first movie, Stephen Hillenburg. Even though he is gone, his show that made everyone laugh so much lives on forever in memory of him.

One thing people love about this show is the silly and catch music. Even though they are goody, they are also catchy. The top songs according to screenrant.com are Sweet Victory, The Very First Christmas, F.U.N., This Grill Is Not a Home, Gary’s Song, Goofy Goober Rock, When Worlds Collide, The Campfire Song Song, Now that We’re Men, and Doing the Sponge. Spongebob has also tackled a wide range of merchandise all over. There are t-shirts, toys, video games, and even theme park attractions.

Something that Spongebob does a great job of is making relatable characters and tackle serious subjects. The characters always face challenges and obstacles, but in the end, they manage to come out on top. The characters show emotion, even though many might not notice it. For example, we see in an episode Gary runs away and Spongebob is heartbroken throughout the episode until he finds him again. Another example is how miserable Squidward is all the time and constantly shows it. People may not notice the messages, but they are definitely there. And although it is covered up with humor, it is still great they include it.
