!Spoilers for Demon slayer!

This weekend was the opening night of the new Demon Slayer movie which premiers the first episode of season 3 of Demon Slayer. In this movie they start the movie with a short recap of season 1. Then it goes on to show a recap of season 2 and officially starts the movie at the fight at the end of season 2 to refresh people’s minds. It shows the whole fight for a majority of the movie until the end of the fight. It then goes on to show the first episode of the new season coming out April 9th.

I went into this movie expecting a lot of the new season, and the parts of the new season were very good and exciting to watch. It introduces the new arc that the show will be going into and the aftermath of the last fight of season 2. But it was only for a short amount of time. The movie was very long awaited with many excited to see what the new season holds. Although, it was very annoying to fans who have already watched season 2 to have to watch the entire fight that lasted almost an hour and a half of this hour and fifty minute movie. I would say it was almost 90% recap and 10% new material. Many people in the theatre were very annoyed and it was very obvious the irritation that was going through others.

Going into detail, in season one we see Nezuko, Tanjiros sister, turns into a demon and we see them face the obstacles of many not accepting the fact she is a good person despite being a demon. And we meet the first hashira of the show, Rengoku, who fights an upper rank demon, Akaza. We then see Rengoku lose this fight to Akaza. Then we see the new season with Tanjiro and his friends, Inoskue and Zenitsu. We then see the next main Hashira Tengen Uzui, going on a mission with Tanjiro and his friends. This leads to them finding and fighting an upper rank demon who is actually two demons, brother and sister. They defeat these demons but Tengen gets his hand cut off and goes on to retire as a hashira. After all this goes down, we finally see the aftermath of the fight with Tanjiro coming out of a coma and Inoskue and Zenitsu being healthy and going back on missions. We see a meeting with the upper rank demons and meeting some we haven’t seen before. They meet to hear the announcement from Muzan about the death of the upper rank demons and are sent on missions. It continues to Tanjiro, who had chipped his sword in battle which leads him to get a new one. He goes to the hidden swordsmith village to get a new one. When he arrives the man who usually makes his swords is not there. Tanjiro then stays at the swordsmith village to heal more from the battle and sees two hashiras, Mitsuri and Muichiro. Mitsuri before she leaves tells Tanjiro there is a special power somewhere in the village to make him stronger. He goes to look for this and sees a man with long hair talking to Muichiro and it ends with the lingering suspicion of what they are doing.

I overall would give it a 6/10.
