It’s that time of year, and I don’t mean Christmas, I mean the College Football Playoffs. On December 4th the four teams selected for the 2022-2023 College Football Playoffs were announced. Georgia, Michigan, TCU, and Ohio State as in the top four teams. On December 31st, starting at 4:00pm, #2 Michigan Wolverines vs #3 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl in Scottsdale, Arizona. Also on December 31st, #1 Georgia Bulldogs vs #4 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Peach Bowl in Inglewood, California.

Michigan vs TCU is the first time TCU will compete in the College Football Playoffs after earning the #3 spot this year. They are looking to earn their first National Championship since 1938, while Michigan are aiming to secure their first National Championship since 1997. TCU (12-1, 9-0 Big 12) were running the Big 12 conference before they fell one field goal and a fourth down rushing touchdown short of receiving the conference championship against Kansas State. Michigan (13-0, 9-0 Big Ten) were able to win the conference title and went on to beat Purdue to win their division. Both teams have their strengths, and their weaknesses and fans wonder who will take home the win on New years Eve.

Georgia vs Ohio State is looking to be an unpredictable game. Georgia is the defending National Champions in College Football, and they enter the postseason as the undefeated SEC Champions. Georgia (13-0 Overall, 8-0 Conf.) this season has had a premier scoring defense and a crazy attacking offense lead by quarterback Stetson Bennett. Ohio State (11-1 Overall, 8-1 Conf.) enters this game with one loss after losing to Michigan. Although carrying this loss they still hold one of the most aggressive passing offenses behind quarterback C.J. Stroud and a lot of talent in their wide receivers.

In other news, we have our 2022 Heisman Trophy winner. It’s the first all quarterback of finalists since 2018 with Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, and Ohio States Dwayne Haskins. Last year’s winner, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, is not a finalist despite having a strong season for the Crimson Tide. Our candidates for 2022 were USC’s Caleb Williams, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, TCU’s Max Duggan, and Georgia’s Stetson Bennett. This years winner turned out to be Caleb Williams, the USC Trojans quarterback. In second was Max Duggan, in third was C.J. Stroud, and in fourth was Stetson Bennett. This marks the 11th time in 13 years a quarterback has won the award. His chances of winning Heisman were not too promising, but he defeated the odds. People weren’t too happy with this decision. But before Caleb Williams came to USC, the Trojans went 3-6 in 2021 and hadn’t experienced an eight-win season since 2019. Caleb Williams did great things for USC and deserved that Heisman. Caleb brought some humor to his speech by saying “I may be standing up here today, but yall get to go to college football playoffs.” He also encourages people by saying “If you’re winning to put in the work and surround yourself with positive people, you can achieve anything.” He ends his speech with “What used to be words on a piece of paper has me standing here today. So, everyone, dreams really do come true. Thank you. Fight on.” Congratulations to Caleb Williams.
