Former Detroit Tigers in the World Series

Even though it looks like all Detroit sports teams are not doing well this year, you can still root for the two former Detroit Tigers in the World Series. Detroit sports have not been doing well in recent times with the last playoff win for the Lions in 1992, the Pistons in 2008, and the Tigers along with the Red Wings in 2013, Detroit sports fans have not had much to look forward to. During the 2022 Super Bowl, many Lions fans were rooting for the Los Angeles Rams because Mathew Staford, now the QB for the Rams, was the QB for the Lions since he got drafted in 2009. Michigan stores were even seen selling Detroit Rams merchandise which was meant to be a joke because the Lions are infamous for being bad and their QB was finally in the big game but just not on their team anymore. The World Series is watched less than a Super Bowl, but many depressed Detroit fans are hoping for their former pitcher to win something that seems untouchable for them. Justin Verlander is the more well-known of the two, playing for Detroit since he got drafted in 2004 up until he got traded to the Houston Astros in 2017. Nick Castellanos is also a former Tiger, getting drafted to Detroit in 2010 and eventually traded to the Cubs in 2019, then signed with the Reds but opted out after two seasons and, prior to this season signed a five-year deal with the Phillies. The Astros are now up 3-2 against Philly but either way, a Tiger is winning the World Series.
