Here is a review of 11 places to get rice near you!

1. Osaka: 10/10 rice. As hibachi rice, it is perfectly fried and crisp without tasting burnt, and is coated in delicious garlic butter. The fried egg in it is fried to perfection. The rice to vegetable ratio is perfect and the portions are large and never leaves you hungry. This rice is absolutely divine.

#1: Osaka- osakasteakhousemi.com

 2. Ichiban: 10/10 rice. Another prefect rice- also a hibachi rice, similar to Osaka, Ichiban rice is very nice, crisp, and buttery. The rice to vegetable ratio is just not as up to par as Osaka’s.

3. New China Gourmet: 9.5/10 rice. This rice comes from a local Chinese restaurant and is delicious. It is good because there is chicken and bean sprouts in place of a variety of vegetables. It is different than your basic fried rice, and still always tastes fresh and crisp- just not as crisp as the hibachi rice.

4. Shogun: 9/10 rice. Shogun brings us back to the hibachi rice category. It is buttery and flavorful, and has a great rice to vegetable ratio- but for some reason, it’s a lot soggier than typical fried rice. But not soggy to a point where it is no longer good, just not as great as the top three.

#2 Ichiban- tripadvisor.com

5. Chipotle: 8.5/10 rice. Changing it up with a white rice, Chipotle rice is plain but a classic. It is very sticky and tastes awesome alone or paired with other Chipotle sides.

6. Rice-a-Roni: 8/10 rice. Although you just pop it in the microwave, Rice-a-Roni is actually really good. It comes in many flavors, like Chicken or Cheddar Broccoli, and it is always very fresh, hot, and full of flavor.

7. Phucket Thai 23: 7.5/10 rice. As a Thai Take-Out restaurant, Phucket Thai has great rice! It is perfectly spicy, which is a genius addition to fried rice. Also a good rice to vegetable ratio. It is just a bit soggy for fried rice.

#3 New China Gourmet- yelp.com

8. Bailey’s: 7/10 rice. Another Chinese joint, Bailey’s rice is similar to that of New China Gourmet’s. Bailey’s rice is great, but is so low on the list because it lacks flavor and only tastes like soy sauce.

(Dis)Honorable Mentions:

  1. Panda Express: plain. 4/10.
  2. P.F. Chang’s: not great for acclaimed “authentic” rice. 3/10.
  3. Texas Roadhouse: Texas Roadhouse rice has the consistency of oatmeal and tastes like nothing. 1/10.
