OJ Simpson Released

Beginning of OJ’s Crimes

OJ Simpson, a former highly successful and well known athlete, was recently released from jail and is now on parole. He was sentenced to a trial beginning on January 24th 1995, where he was accused of murdering his ex wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman. OJ’s trial spanned over a time period of eleven months, and ended on October 3rd 1995 when the verdict found him not guilty. People were outraged when they heard of this decision and people were calling it “The Trial of the Century.”  Although he was not seen for the murder of these two people, he was charged with the crimes of kidnapping and armed robbery. There are people today who still believe that OJ walked away with the murder of two people.

His Life on Parole

After spending nine years in jail for kidnapping and armed robbery, OJ is now living in a wealthy suburb home with multiple of his friends and later plans on moving to Florida. He was released during the middle of the night to refrain from the media getting caught up at the jail. Being a parolee, there are always guidelines that need to be followed including no excess of alcohol, no drugs, and are not allowed to own any guns.

Jeff Zoli, a forensic and physics teacher here at Dakota High School, gave some words about his opinion on this case, “There just wasn’t enough evidence to tie Simpson to the crime and therefore he was not convicted.”
