Ronaldo’s 801 Goals: Is Ronaldo Going To Be The G.O.A.T.?

Ronaldo’s 801:

Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first player in modern professional soccer to achieve 800 or more goals. On Manchester United’s game against Arsenal, he managed to score 2 goals. The second winning his team the game and putting his goal count to 801.

With his goal count being at 801, he is now second place in most goals in professional soccer history, only behind Josef Bican’s 805 career goals. But with no thought of retirement, and many more games to come, Ronaldo will soon have scored most goals in soccer history. Ronaldo’s current rival, Lionel Messi, having 755 goals, while being 2 years younger. Leading to question of who will have the most goals at retirement?

The G.O.A.T. Debate:

Sharing the world stage together for over 10 years. Ronaldo and Messi have been the top players for a while, its almost impossible from avoiding the question as a soccer fan, who is the G.O.A.T. (greastest of all time) Messi, or Ronaldo? Ronaldo fans are now arguing he is the better player because of the huge milestone, while Messi fans argue that he is 2 years younger and he has more time to score more goals, and the argument of Messi recently winning the Ballon D’or trophy, now having 7 compared to Ronaldo’s 5.

Things got heated since, the Ballon D’or was given to Messi, as people thought he didn’t deserve it. Ronaldo even spoke and gave his opinion on the matter by agreeing with his fans that Messi didn’t deserve the trophy. Which was unusual since they had usually been on good terms with each other. Others stated that Ronaldo was just wining since he didn’t win himself and wasn’t even a main competitor for the trophy.

My Take:

As being a fan of both Ronaldo and Messi. Here is my unbias take on the rivalry and who I think will end up with the most goals at retirement. First off I would like to note once again that Ronaldo is 2 years older then Messi. Now you might be thinking that in 2 years Messi could surpass Ronaldo in goals, which might turn out to be true in the near future. But you can make an argument for Ronaldo, and here’s what I believe will happen, Ronaldo is 36 and still going strong, with no real consideration on retirement, and Messi obviously declining in performance over the last couple years, I believe Ronaldo could just out last Messi and keep the title. But we can only wait and see what the future may bring.
