Apple Announces New Tech At Annual September Event

Here’s what was announced:

 

iPad 9th generation

Apple announced that the new iPad 9th generation will be coming with the A13 Bionic chip, an upgraded image signal processer for better photos, also an big upgrade on the front camera to a 12MP ultra wide with 122º field of view with Center Stage. The new iPad will ship with iPadOS 15 and all of its new features and will still start at $329 for 64GB, Starts at $299 for schools.

iPad Mini 6

The new iPad Mini has been completely redesigned and comes in new colors: purple, pink, starlight, and space gray. This iPad now comes with a 8.3 inch display with the same device footprint. The display has wide color, antireflective, and 500 nits of brightness, also the touch ID is now in the power button just like the iPad Air and comes with a USB-C port over Lightning. The iPad comes with an upgraded front and back camera with 12MP. This iPad also is now compatible with the Smart Folio covers and the second generation Apple Pencil. The new iPad Mini starts at $499 and will be available next week.

Apple Watch Series 7

The Apple Watch Series 7 will be available later this fall, this Apple Watch is claimed to have almost 20% more screen than the previous series 6 model, the borders are now just 1.7mm and are 40% thinner. The Apple Watch is now up to 70% brighter to make it easier to check time when wrist is down. Also durability has been Improved and the watch now has a IP6X Certification for dust resistance, it is still WR50 in water resistance terms. It still has the same 18-hour battery life but it charges 33% faster than the previous series 6, five new aluminum colors that consist of midnight, starlight, green, blue, and red. Also the Series 3 model comes at $199, the SE model comes at $279, and the Series 7 model will now be available from $399. Plus Apple Fitness + comes with a new feature called Group Workouts where Apple Shareplay is used with Apple Fitness to make it so you can workout with friends and family from all over the world. Available later this fall.

iPhone 13 mini & iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 models will once again have a flat-edge design that last year’s iPhones had and is IP68 water resistant, the iPhone 13 models will come in five new colors which include pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and red. The iPhone 13 mini and 13 both have a 28% brighter display Super Retina XDR with 1200 nits peak brightness. Both of the iPhones will have the A15 Bionic Chip, the phones come with a dual-camera system which consists of a 12MP camera system with a wide camera and an Ultra wide camera with Cinematic mode. Regarding 5G Apple announced that they will be working with more carriers to optimize support. Despite all of the new features and improvements the battery life on the iPhone 13 mini and the 13 still has better battery life over the previous iPhone 12 models and most users should get 1.5 hours more batter on iPhone 13 mini compared to the 12 mini. The iPhone 13 mini still starts at $699 for the 128GB storage option, iPhone 13 itself will start at $799 for 128GB.

iPhone 13 Pro & iPhone 13 Pro Max

The iPhone 13 pro and iPhone 13 pro max come both in four finishes which include graphite, gold, silver, and sierra blue. Both iPhones are powered by the a15 Bionic chip, both have a TrueDepth camera which is 20% smaller and the rear camera has three lenses. The front of both models also have Ceramic Shield which in Apple claims that it is tougher than any smartphone glass. They both have a IP68 resistance, Reengineered internals, and MagSafe support. A big feature that we have been waiting for for a long time on an iPhone is the improved display which is now including ProMotion with a refresh rate of 10-120Hz. Last but not least the battery life is significantly better than the iPhone 12 models from last September as the new iPhone 13 pro and pro max have a few hours longer battery life over the previous iPhone 12 models.

About event

Apple hosted their annual September special event on September 14th, 2021 live from their headquarters in Cupertino, CA at 10am PDT (1pm EST). The event was broadcasted live on the official Apple website and the official Apple YouTube Channel. (More info on what they released is listed above.)

Pre-event Rumors: iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, AirPods 3

According to popular leaker MacRumors we are expecting four iPhone 13 models in the same sizes as the previous iPhone 12 models, Apple is expected to use the same general design as the previous model. Apple was expected to use 120hz promotion displays with this iPhone. Camera improvements, a A15 chip, faster 5G are also all expected to come with the new iPhone. One of the biggest design tweaks with the iPhone 13 will be that it will feature a smaller notch than previous models.

The Apple Watch Series is rumored to have smaller bezels and a flat-edge design similar to the design of the iPhone 12. The Apple Watch models will come in 41mm and 45mm sizes, the new Apple Watches are expected to get a faster chip and new wireless capabilities.

Apple is making new AirPods which are rumored to look similar to the AirPods Pro model. These Air Pods will not come with Active Noise Cancellation like the previous AirPods Pro model. Without the Active Noise Cancellation Apple will be able to sell these AirPods at a lower price point.
